Give ‘er at the Bivver

Even though organizers put off yet another successful Mid Winter Bivver in February, they also proved they can overcome massive last-minute obstacles.

The 2016 event, the fifth of its kind, was a complete sell out, and with the ground covered in snow just a week before the event, and popular provincial comedian, Snook, booked to host the Forager’s Feast, this year’s festival was well on its way to being the best one yet.

 

However, just days before snowmobilers arrived in Grand Falls-Windsor, the Central region was hit with a lot of rain and plus temperatures, which resulted in a mammoth melting of snow.

 

Despite this obstacle, the festival was deemed a success, and the culinary aspect proved to save the day.

 

The Forager’s Feast, hysterically hosted by Snook, featured a five-course meal and wine pairing, where participants indulged in unique culinary dishes made with local ingredients by award-winning Executive Chef Roary MacPherson and the James Beard Culinary Team. The amazing chefs prepared roasted cod with a mussel chorizo sauce, Point Leamington pork, roasted loin and braised leg, Newfoundland berry shortcake, plus lots more.
